Baseball Postseason Formats

The 16 teams will participate in four four-team double-elimination regional tournaments. The four division winners are seeded 1-4. The tournaments are structured as below:

No. 1, No. 8, No. 9, No. 16

No. 2, No. 7, No. 10, No. 15

No. 3, No. 6, No. 11, No. 14

No. 4, No. 5, No. 12, No. 13

The four participants in each regional tournament will be seeded 1-4 and each regional tournament will follow the below format

Game 1: No. 1 vs. No. 4

Game 2: No. 2 vs. No. 3

Game 3: Winner of game 1 vs. winner of game 2 (winner's bracket final)

Game 4: Loser of game 1 vs. loser of game 2 (loser is eliminated)

Game 5: Loser of game 3 vs. winner of game 4 (Loser's bracket final; loser is eliminated)

Game 6: Winner of game 3 vs. winner of game 5 (if the winner of game 5 wins, then a rematch is held with the winner winning the regional tournament)

The four double-elimination tournament champions then participate in two best of three semifinal series (highest seeded winner vs. lowest seeded winner and the other two winners)

The best of three Finals are held during second week of June
