Postseason Formats
Division I, III, + IV
- For the teams
whose Thanksgiving Day game is a non-league contest, the regular saeason
concludes the weekend before Thanksgiving. For the others, the regular
season concludes with the
traditional Thanksgiving rivalry games involving
RIIL Football schools are held.
- The top four teams
in each division qualify
for their respected division's postseason torunament
- The semifinals
are held on the Tuesday night after Thanksgiving. No. 1 plays No. 4
and No. 2 plays No. 3
- The semifinal
winners meet in the Super Bowls played that weekend (Saturday or Sunday)
Division
II
- The regular
season concludes the first weekend of November
- The top four
teams in each of the two divisions (II-A + II-B) qualify for the playoffs
- The quarterfinals
are held the second weekend of November: 1A plays 4B, 1B plays 4A, 2A
plays 3B, and 2B plays 3A
- The semifinals
are held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving: winner of the 1A/4B game
plays the winner of the 2B/3A game and the winner of the 1B/4A game
plays the winner of the 2A/3B game
- The
semifinal winners meet in the Super
Bowl played that weekend (Saturday
or Sunday)
