Volleyball Postseason Formats
Division
I
- The
top 4 teams in I-North and the top 4 teams in I-South
qualify
for the postseason tournament
- In the quarterfinals:
1N plays 4S, 1S plays 4N, 2N plays 3S, and 2S plays 3N
- In semifinals
the winner of the 1N/4S game faces winner of the 2S/3N game and
the winner of the game plays the 1S/4N winner of the 2N/3S game
- Finals are
held on the Saturday of the second weekend in November
Division II
- The
top 6 teams in II-North and the top 6 teams in II-South qualify
for the postseason tournament
- In the preliminary
round: 3N plays 6S, 3S plays 6N, 4N plays 5S and 4S plays 5N with 1N, 1S, 2N, and 2S receiving byes
- In the quarterfinals:
1N plays the winner of the 4S/5N game, 1S plays the winner of the 4N/5S
game, 2N plays the winner of the 3S/4N game, and 2S plays the winner
of the 3N/6S game
- In semifinals
the winner of the 1N/4S/5N game faces winner of the 2S/3N/6S game and
the winner of the game plays the 1S/4N/5S winner of the 2N/3S/6N game
- Finals are
held on the Saturday of the second weekend in November
Division III
- The
top 6 teams qualify
for the postseason tournament
- In the quarterfinals:
No. 3 plays No. 6, No. 4 plays No. 5, and No. 1 and No. 2 receive byes
- In semifinals No. 1 plays the winner of the 4/5 game and No. 2 plays
the winner of the 3/6 game
- Finals are
held on the Saturday of the second weekend in November
