Notes:

  • 1932-33 until 1936-37 the Class A Champion was the regular season champion due to there being no postseason tournament
  • 1937-38 until 1965-66 Class A, B, and C teams competed for the State title. Those results are listed here
  • In 1940-41 Westerly asked the best of three championship series to be reduced to a one game winner-take-all after two grueling best of three playoff series prior. Neither that game nor the series was held.
  • 1966-67 until 1971-72 called Class A
  • 1972-73 until 1979-80 called Metropolitan Division
  • 1980-81 until 1995-96 called Class A
  • 1996-97 until 1999-00 called Division I
  • 2000-01 until 2003-04 called Division I-AA
  • RIIL's top playoff tournament renamed Division I State in 2004-05
