Girls Outdoor Track + Field Postseason Formats

 

 

Divisional Championships
  • Divisional Championships (Central, Eastern, Northern, Southern) are held during the second week of May
  • All teams qualify and are allowed up to four athletes per event with each individual allowed to compete in up to three events total
  • The team champion is the team that gathers the most total points from all its individuals competing in all of the 12 events
  • Scoring system: 1st place in an event=10 points, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, 4th = 4, 5th=2, 6th =1

 

Class Championships
  • Class Meets (Class A, B, and C) are held on the Saturday after the Divisional Championships (second to last Saturday in May)
  • Teams are allowed up to four athletes per event with each individual allowed to compete in up to three events total
  • The team champion is the team that gathers the most total points from all its individuals competing in all of the 12 events
  • Scoring system: 1st place in an event=10 points, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, 4th = 4, 5th=2, 6th =1

 

Performance Meets

  • The Saturday after the Class Championships, the Division I, II, + III Performance Meets are held
  • They do not involve team scoring but instead individual scoring only
  • The Performance Meets represent the last qualifying event for the State Championships

 

State Championships

  • State Championships are held on the Saturday after the Performance Meets (first of June)
  • Teams are allowed up to four athletes per event with each individual allowed to compete in up to three events total
  • The team champion is the team that gathers the most total points from all its individuals competing in all of the 12 events
  • Scoring system: 1st place in an event=10 points, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, 4th = 4, 5th=2, 6th =1

 

New England Championships
  • The New England Championships are held on the Saturday after the State Meet (second of June; no team scoring)

 

National Championships

  • The National Championships are held on the Friday and Saturday after the New England Meet
